Visual Artist
Darlington Raymond is a visual artist whose figurative practice explores people, human emotion and lived experience. Through portraiture, gesture and expression, his work reflects on vulnerability, resilience and the experiences people carry with them.
Working primarily with soft pastels and acrylic, Darlington’s practice is shaped by curiosity and a willingness to explore different materials and techniques. This openness to experimentation allows him to continually develop his approach to making and discover new possibilities within his work.
Darlington Raymond and his work have been featured in photographs published by the Paisley Daily Express and The Herald. His work has also been featured in Vanguard Nigeria.
Darlington holds a B.Tech in Estate Management and an MSc in Project Management. He is currently a member of Visual Arts Scotland and the Aberdeen Artists Society.
My practice is centred on people, emotions and lived experience, I am curious about the moments that reveal what people may be experiencing in every way of existing. I want the work to hold attention beyond the surface level and create a connection between the viewer and the subject.

The Bradford African Festival of Arts brought together artists, creatives and communities for a celebration of African art and culture in Bradford. The programme moved across visual art, music, performance, fashion, film and other creative forms, creating a space for people to experience different expressions of African creativity and connect through the work.
My paintings were displayed as part of the festival’s art exhibition at the University of Bradford alongside works by other participating artists.

Fragments of Her was a contemporary group exhibition dedicated to female portraiture and the lived experiences of women. Bringing together painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition explored identity, strength, vulnerability, memory and transformation across cultures and generations. Rather than presenting one fixed idea of femininity, it brought together many individual perspectives as fragments of a wider collective portrait of contemporary womanhood.
The exhibition was curated by Graciella Harger and presented at Espacio Gallery in Shoreditch, London. My works were shown as part of the exhibition alongside a broad range of contemporary portrait-based practices.

Life in My City Art Festival
Thought Pyramid Art Gallery, Lagos
The 2023 Life in My City Art Festival (LIMCAF), the 16th edition of the annual national art festival, was presented under the theme “Fix It.” The theme invited young artists to respond creatively to contemporary challenges and consider the role individuals and society can play in creating change. The Lagos Regional Exhibition opened on 15 July 2023 at Thought Pyramid Art Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, as one of 13 regional exhibitions across Nigeria. Ninety-six artworks were presented in the Lagos exhibition as part of the second stage of the national competition.
My work was exhibited as part of the Lagos regional presentation, placing it within a wider gathering of emerging Nigerian artists and audiences before the festival’s Grand Finale stage in Enugu.
